Girls in STEM
The Year 6 girls were lucky enough to be invited to spend Tuesday at the 'Girls in STEM' event hosted by Accenture at The Sage, Gateshead.  We had an amazing day learning how to code driverless cars, program a Raspberry Pi and investigate a crime scene using forensic science techniques.  Only two primary schools were invited to the event, but they showed their STEM skills off brilliantly and won the driverless cars competition where they were up against girls from a secondary school!  The Accenture staff were so impressed with the girls' attitude to learning and said they loved how the children demonstrated that making mistakes was part of the learning journey and nothing to be scared of.  We couldn't agree more; 'experiment, fail, learn, repeat'!
