Let's get planting

21st November 2016
The Woodland Trust has donated 400 trees to school and we need you to help us to build the future.

We believe that life is better with trees.  Our neighbourhoods and schools feel better places to live and work when they are green.  Planting a variety of trees and shrubs can help improve the resilience of our land.  This supports our woods and trees, helping them bounce back from current threats such as climate change, trees pests and disease.  We all breath easier when there are beautiful woods in which to relax and unwind. Yet the UK needs more trees. We are one of the least wooded countries in Europe and trees and woods continue to disappear from our landscapes.

There are excellent reasons to plant trees here at Sacred Heart; we would like to expand and enrich our outdoor area with the aim to grow our own Forest School.  Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self esteem, through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.

We have worked with experts to draw up some initial plans about where the trees will go and once we've got these confirmed we will share them with you.  We will also be giving you a chance to leave a lasting mark on the landscape by offering families the chance to sponsor and plant a tree.
